Pivot Arm Awnings

A Pivot Arm Awning projects outwards from the window top and is kept at an angle via a set of arms. Adjust pivot arm awnings for angle or pitch to control sunlight and shade while still allowing open windows and airflow, even when fully extended. Amaru makes custom awnings in modern and traditional colours and styles to suit any home.

Features & Options

There are a number of additional features and options that can be added to your outdoor pivot arm awnings to enhance their use. Speak with your consultant to see what is possible with your choice of fabric and application.

Excellent Airflow

Excellent Airflow

The angle created between the wall and the awning lets you open windows even with the blinds lowered. Air flows freely under the blind while direct sunlight is kept from reaching and heating windows

Powder Coated Head Box

Powder Coated Head Box

Standard pivot arm awning installation includes a headbox, which protects the awning and roller mechanism when not in use. Awning headboxes are colour-matched to your home guttering or custom powder-coated to the colour of your choice.

Child Safe

Child Safe

Pivot arm awnings are operated via crank or motorised control, eliminating the need for cords or chains making them completely child and pet safe.

Solar Powered

Solar Powered

For the ultimate poetic feedback loop, Amaru can install solar-powered motorised awnings that let you harness the suns energy to block sunlight, keeping your home cooler in summer, improving your home’s energy efficiency and carbon footprint.

Environmental Sensors

Environmental Sensors

If you have chosen to motorise your external blinds and awnings, you can also add an environmental sensor that can detect wind, UV levels and rain and open or close automatically as programmed. A sensor powered awning can help you make the most of passive solar energy efficiency, keeping your home shaded in summer and making the most of the winter sun's warmth.

Interior Controls

Interior Controls

Motorised pivot arm awnings remove the need to battle the elements to adjust them. Your exterior blind controls can be located conveniently and comfortably indoors, away from the weather.

FAQs about Pivot Arm Awnings

Where are your awnings manufactured?

All Amaru made-to-measure awnings are manufactured in Melbourne.

What finishes are available for the frame?

The arms, hood and front rails are available in two finishes – sleek anodised aluminium or powder-coated aluminium. Our décor consultants can help you to determine which finish will best complement your overall look.

How do I care for my Pivot Arm Awning?

Your Amaru awnings have been custom manufactured from the highest quality materials; whether you've selected Sunscreen Mesh, Acrylic, Canvas or PVC fabrics, they will provide many years of outstanding service if cared for properly.

Please Note: If you have chosen one of our motorised awning products, always ensure any electrical connections are isolated and switched off before cleaning.

  • Always keep the awning taut when extended to avoid pools of water gathering on the fabric. Prolonged water exposure can cause your awning to lose its mould and mildew resistant coating and leave stains or fading.
  • Regularly inspect and clean the awning to keep it free of dirt, dust, grime, leaf-litter and bird droppings as these may cause stains and bacterial growth to develop if left unattended.
  • Clean your awnings with a sponge, warm water and a mild non-abrasive soap. Always rinse thoroughly to remove any remaining suds. Never use scrubbing brushes or scourers on the fabric. We also recommend hosing down your awnings on hot sunny days to remove dirt and dust. Never use sugar soap, concentrated soaps, harsh detergents, industrial cleaning fluids or bleach as these will strip the fabric of any protective coatings and cause damage and discolouration of your awning.
  • Keep insecticides, solvents, fuels and flames away from the awning.
  • Occasionally fully extend, then retract the blind to maintain the awning mechanisms and even out the material, especially if you usually keep your blind in one position.
